We get a lot of flack sometimes for putting our four-legged "kids" above ourselves, or at least being perceived as doing such. There's a truth to it, but on the other hand... it's our capacity to reach out to other species and (occasionally) put ourselves below their well-being that sets us apart.

I've put a lot of money into my kitty (IBD and CP) and I know my girlfriend lady_curmudgeon is continuing that trend now that one of her girls is in CRF. We've not had to sacrifice any of our own comforts yet, but I can compile an entire list of what would go in order to continue treatment for either of them.

You're fighting the good fight, m'friend. Never be apologetic, but never utterly subjugate yourself, either. You can't help future generations if you're out on the street, you know?

I'm not starving. I meant to spend $20 on cat food and put $50 in the van, and I just got carried away by all the different high end cat food that Petco had, and decided to get them one of everything.

One of everything was about 40 cans, plus I had to get litter & other stuff.

Charlie had CRF as well as hyperthyroidism, both of which I could keep under control until he hit 17, then he went fairly fast. We won't have to go though that again anytime soon though. Our older brother/sister pair is only 16 Months, and the younger pair of brothers are 4 months as of tomorrow, so they will probably all be with us for a long time.
